{"id":30,"date":"2008-11-23T12:17:20","date_gmt":"2008-11-23T18:17:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/douglaslucas.com\/blog\/?p=30"},"modified":"2008-11-23T12:24:08","modified_gmt":"2008-11-23T18:24:08","slug":"no-caffeine-day-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/douglaslucas.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/23\/no-caffeine-day-9\/","title":{"rendered":"No Caffeine Day 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today marks\u00a0Day 9\u00a0of my 30-day(-minimum!) experiment <a href=\"https:\/\/douglaslucas.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/14\/cutting-out-caffeine\/\">cutting out caffeine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once &#8212; perhaps\u00a0on Day 5; can&#8217;t really remember &#8212; I completely forgot what I was doing and had a<em> <\/em>miniscule amount\u00a0of chocolate. I don&#8217;t plan\u00a0on repeating\u00a0my mistake, but regardless, that minor intake of caffeine doesn&#8217;t seem to have made any impact on my results. I feel at liberty to completely discount it. =)<\/p>\n<p>So, my results? I <em>totally<\/em> have more energy now. Enough\u00a0so others have noticed. Not enough for my liking, however; I need to exercise more consistently and such for that. Overall, though,\u00a0the energy increase easily has been\u00a0worth the 7-or-so days of miserable caffeine withdrawal. Also: I fall asleep faster now. Within 10 minutes. That probably has more to do with a consistent bedtime than with cutting out caffeine.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t find avoiding caffeine difficult in any emotional way &#8212; especially after enjoying\u00a0the\u00a0energy increase.\u00a0I&#8217;d prefer being able to eat chocolate, but, eh, &#8217;tis better for me not to anyway! The only real difficulty I&#8217;ve found is that it&#8217;s easy to accidently\u00a0consume something\u00a0that does contain caffeine. Seems <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyfiend.com\/the-caffeine-database\">every drink<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyfiend.com\/caffeine-in-candy\">piece\u00a0of candy<\/a>\u00a0has some. Grr.
